At SaltStone Design, we see our role much like that described by Charles Eames, of anticipating the needs of those who live in the spaces we create.
This perspective is shaped by our combined backgrounds in luxury hospitality, heritage and design, disciplines grounded in attention to detail and a deep understanding of how people interact with their surroundings. Through this, we have developed an instinct for what makes a space feel right. Spaces that are welcoming, intuitive and quietly resolved.
Founded by Claire and Bee, SaltStone brings together a breadth of experience, from highly considered interiors to a lasting appreciation for craftsmanship, history and materiality. This informs a considered and measured approach to design, where each decision is made with clarity and intent.
Our aesthetic is layered yet restrained, drawing on classic European influences alongside a contemporary understanding of living. Natural materials, subtle contrast and a sense of balance create spaces that feel refined and at ease.
We work closely with our clients throughout, guiding each project with clarity and care to create homes that feel personal, enduring and elevated.

FOUNDER & DESIGNER
For Elizabeth - known to most as Bee - interior design is a blend of strategic decision making and creativity. Each project starts with conversation and curiosity about the rhythms of daily life, resulting in interiors that balance beauty with practical living.
Bee’s route into design has been shaped by a distinctive blend of hospitality and heritage. She spent several years working in luxury yachting and event design, environments where details matter and interiors must function effortlessly under constant use. Styling and maintaining highly finished interiors honed her instinct for spatial flow, organisation and presentation.
Her subsequent studies in history, exhibition design and interior design, alongside her work as an archaeologist, have had a lasting influence on her design philosophy. Excavating historic landscapes and studying everyday artefacts has led to a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, and Bee loves to incorporate her knowledge of historic design and love for heritage pieces in her designs.
Working within luxury interiors also sharpened Bee’s awareness of the importance of sensory qualities that shape how a space feels. She remains particularly attentive to elements such as layered lighting and tactile key touch points to create warmth, atmosphere and depth.
Away from design work she enjoys creating ceramics and continues to nurture her passion for archaeology.
At SaltStone, Bee brings together her experience to deliver interiors that look collected rather than styled, are highly functional and feel personal.
FOUNDER & DESIGNER
Claire’s talent for interiors was shaped during more than fifteen years working in the super yacht industry. As Chief Stewardess aboard large yachts, she was responsible for managing interiors for discerning clients while travelling extensively through Europe and the South Pacific. In that world, detail, flow and atmosphere matters immensely, and creating beautifully presented spaces is second nature.
Her role placed her at the centre of a wide range of projects, from yacht launches and new builds to large-scale interior refits, staging for photo shoots and coordinating shipyard periods. Working closely with leading designers sparked a lasting passion for interiors and styling, and gave Claire a clear understanding of how spaces should look, feel and function.
The experience also taught her that first impressions, small details and a sense of welcome are often what people remember most. Today she approaches home styling and staging with exactly that in mind, creating spaces that feel inviting, balanced and thoughtfully put together.
In recent years Claire has continued to develop her creative practice through formal training in Interior Design at Nottingham Trent University, alongside studies in floristry, French polishing and leadership.
Travel remains a constant source of inspiration. Time spent in Italy, Greece and Portugal has had a lasting influence on her aesthetic, particularly a love of natural materials, relaxed living and spaces that blur the line between indoors and out.
When she is not styling homes, Claire is usually renovating her own house and garden, experimenting with DIY projects, painting, arranging flowers or creating artwork. She enjoys the practical side of making things and is rarely without a project on the go.
Through SaltStone, Claire brings together her passion for styling, organisation and atmosphere to create spaces that feel welcoming, aspirational and beautifully lived in.
